Getting Started with kegg
Connecting your kegg app
You will need:
- Your kegg device
- Your kegg charging cradle
- Your kegg charging cable
- A USB charging block (plug) from your house
- Your mobile device with an internet/data connection
Download the kegg app
In your phone's app store, search "kegg." Follow the download instructions.
Unbox your kegg and charger
Every kegg comes with your kegg device, charging cradle, and charging cable which will need to be connected to a UL listed charging block.
Plug the charging cable into the charging cradle
Push firmly to fully insert the appropriate cable end into the charging cradle.
Connect the cable to a charging block
Plug the USB end of the charging cable into a UL listed charging block and then plug into the wall.
Insert your kegg into the charging cradle
Be sure to press kegg down into the cradle, as kegg’s metal-plated tips need to connect with the metal contacts at the bottom of the charging cradle. Your kegg will gently pulse a warm yellow while charging. When your kegg is fully charged, it will glow green.
Ensure your device has its bluetooth low energy connections enabled
Bluetooth 4.0 is required for kegg functionality.
Setting up your account
After downloading the kegg app:
- Open the app, and select “Sign Up” to create a new account. If you have an existing kegg account, select “Login”.
- Follow the prompt to input your personal information.
Next, you will be prompted to pair your kegg:
Follow the in-app instructions.
- Allow the app permission to connect with your kegg.
- Note: You do not need to take a reading at this time. Be sure to take your reading during your target time each day.
When to start kegg
It is preferable to begin kegg use the day after your period ends, however, if you receive your kegg mid-cycle, you may begin using kegg on any non-bleeding cycle day should you choose to do so.
Consistency is key
Consistent daily kegg use is key to tracking your fertility with kegg. Aim to take a reading on all non-bleeding cycle days (though, we know, life happens, and a missed reading here or there is okay!).
Choose a target time
For the most reliable and personalized insights, aim to take your kegg readings within the same two hour window each day. However, don't worry if you miss this window for some reason. Simply take your reading when you remember (or when you can) even if it is outside of your two hour window.
Your two hour reading window extends from one hour before to one hour after your target time. You can take your reading anytime in this two hour window. When selecting your target reading time, keep in mind that a reading cannot be taken within 8 hours after intercourse.
Example: If your target time is at 9 AM, you should take your reading anytime between 8 AM and 10 AM.
If you find that your two hour window does not work well for you, you can update your reading time by navigating to Account then selecting App settings. Next, tap Reading Reminder and you can update your reading time and reminder notifications from that screen.
How to take your reading
Find a comfortable position to take your reading
You can take your kegg reading while standing, sitting, or laying down. For the most reliable results, take your reading in the same position each day.
Make your selection in the kegg app
When it is time to take your reading, select the + in the center circle of the Home screen. Make a selection to indicate if you would like to complete the guided kegel exercises and your kegg reading, or just your kegg reading alone.
Note: You cannot complete your kegels in isolation without your kegg reading.
Turn on your kegg
When prompted to do so by the in-app prompts, press the power button on the side of the kegg to turn on your kegg.
Insert your kegg
When instructed by the app, insert the kegel ball portion of the kegg fully into the vagina. The tail should remain outside and facing forward on the body. To aid in insertion, you may rinse your kegg in warm water. Be sure to separate the folds of the labia before initiating insertion. Lubricants should be avoided.
Ensure kegg remains fully inserted for the duration of the reading. You may help ensure your kegg remains inserted by pushing upwards on the bend in the tail of the device.
Remove your kegg
- When the reading is complete you will feel two vibrations and the app will prompt you to remove your kegg. Hold your unwashed kegg near your phone and follow the prompt to save your kegg reading.
Wash your kegg
- Once your kegg results are displayed in the kegg app, you may wash your kegg. Using warm water (and a mild soap if desired), gently wash your kegg, taking care around the metal portion of the kegg to avoid scratches. Be sure to allow your kegg to dry thoroughly before charging, and only charge kegg when instructed to do so.
Store your kegg
- Allow kegg to air dry (or use a soft cloth to carefully dry, again taking care to not scratch the metal surfaces of the kegg). Store kegg somewhere safely, out of reach out pets and children.
Note: kegg needs to be fully dried before placing in the cradle, as moisture or wetness can cause damage to your kegg.
Charging, cleaning and storing your kegg
Charging your kegg
- Charge your kegg when instructed to charge your kegg by the kegg app, or if your kegg will not power on.
- Insert the cable into the charging cradle. Push firmly to ensure the cable is fully inserted into the cradle.
- Connect the other end of your cable into a UL listed charging block and plug it into a working wall outlet.
- Place your kegg into the charging cradle. Be sure to press kegg downwards into the cradle, as kegg’s metal plated tips need to connect with the metal contacts at the bottom of the charging cradle.
- When charging, your kegg's light will gently pulse a warm yellow. When charging is complete the light will glow solid green.
Only charge your kegg as needed. Daily charging will void the kegg warranty.
Cleaning your kegg
- After each use, gently hand wash your kegg under warm running water. You may use a mild soap if you wish. Ensure to take extra caution washing the metal bands and tip to prevent scratching and damage. To avoid damage to your kegg, avoid hot water, and ensure kegg is fully dry before charging.
Storing your kegg
- When not in use, store your kegg in a safe place where it can freely access air (and away from animals who tend to love kegg as much as we do!)
- For long-term storage, do not store kegg in an airtight container or bag. You can safely store kegg in a soft satchel or sock. Be sure to power-on your kegg at least once every 6 months to preserve battery life.
How often should I charge my kegg?
- Charge your kegg when prompted to do so by the app. The battery will last several readings on one charge, and for maximum battery life, kegg should not be charged daily. Ensure kegg is completely dry (and there is no moisture on your device) before charging to prevent device damage and corrosion.
- Note: your kegg should not be stored in the charging cradle as daily charging will negatively impact battery health.
Getting to know the kegg app
The Home Screen
- Use the Home screen to start your reading by selecting the + in the center circle. The app will guide you through taking your reading.
Cycle Data
- You will see cycle data, including your Cycle Day, Cycle Phase, and estimated Fertile Window timing. The cycle day is based on the start of your period while the Cycle Phase and Fertile Window estimates are based on kegg’s predictive algorithm.
Adding Daily Details
- Select the + in the lower right hand corner (tan circle) to choose from the following selections:
- Edit Period
- Log details
- Do kegel exercises
- Contact Support
- Take my reading
Add or Edit a Period
Each period needs to be logged in the kegg app. We recommend logging at least your 3 previous periods.
Select the + in the tan circle in the lower right portion of the screen, then tap Add/Edit Period to add or edit a period. To input a period, select a calendar day. You will be prompted to indicate if this is the start of a new cycle (a period) or if you are experiencing bleeding (such as midcycle bleeding) or spotting. To delete a previous period, tap the first day of the period.
You can also edit the Edit Period section in the Calendar by selecting "Edit Period" in orange in the upper right portion of the screen, or by
Understanding your kegg data
When you take a reading with kegg, you’ll see a few key indicators to help you know when you’re most fertile.
Fertility Level (Low / Medium / High)
Shown right after your reading, this level predicts the likelihood you are fertile. Low indicates a low probability those cycle days could result in pregnancy and high indicates a high probability those days could result in conception.*
Fertility Score

The Fertility Score (0-100) shows the changes in your daily fertility status. This score estimates how fertile each day is likely to be. The higher the score, the higher the chance conception may occur on that day.
These scores are displayed as bars on your cycle chart. As you take your daily reading, that day's predicted bar fills to a solid color to show your measured result. The slashed green line displays the predicted score, and the score and bar updates as well as fills to a solid shade once your kegg reading is complete.
A very low score estimates that cycle day to be less fertile, whereas a higher score suggests that the given cycle day is a good day to try to conceive. Your scores will become increasingly more refined with each reading, and with each recorded cycle.
You may observe your scores update as your cycle progresses and you take more kegg readings.
Please note: the score does not indicate your overall fertility or ability to conceive. Instead, the score is intended to help you identify when are your best chances to try to conceive.
The Fertile Days Forecast

Displayed at the beginning of each cycle, your forecast shows your estimated fertile window and predicted Fertility Score bars. These are intended to help you plan ahead; they'll sharpen as you take your daily readings.
Your fertility window may update as your cycle progresses to reflect your real-time data collected during your kegg readings.
The kegg line
This kegg line reflects the electrical properties in the vaginal environment. You can optionally display this data by selecting the green circle with the squiggly line in the center which is found in the upper right hand side of the screen on your Cycle view.

After each reading, you will see a new data point appear if the kegg line is toggled on. The line connects each daily reading together.

The algorithm will seamlessly help you identify your best chances to try with your Fertility Score and Fertility Status, however, you can display the kegg line for your information if you desire.
Ovulation Window
The Cycle View displays an estimated ovulation window. As your cycle progresses, the estimated ovulation window will fill with a blue background. It is important to note that the most likely days to result in conception are those that precede ovulation, therefore when trying to conceive, efforts should be timed according to your days with the highest Fertility Scores, as opposed to only during your estimated ovulation window.
The ovulation window may adjust as your cycle progresses based on your real-time kegg trends.

Fertility Days Display Options
On your Cycle view, you can select the downward toggle next to the current cycle date to display and navigate to previous cycles.
On the Cycle view, you can also choose between displaying all of your estimated fertile days or your Top 8 days (your highest fertility days).

Tap on the downward toggle of your fertile window display to make a selection.

Adding additional observations
You can optionally log numerous observations in the kegg app to conveniently track all of your data in one app. To log additional observations, select the + in the tan circle and navigate to "Log details." Here you can log your bleeding, pregnancy, LH, and PdG test results (under "Tests"), Cervical Mucus Observations, Sex & Insemination, Sex drive, Temperature, Supplements and medications, Sensation, Infections, Symptoms, and any additional notes you wish to log.
Note: With the exception of your period, any input observations do not impact your kegg insights and are for your information only.
Basal Body Temperature Display
- If you track your basal body temperature (with a separate device), you can input this information into the kegg app by selecting the + in the tan circle → Log Details → Temperature (scroll or type in your temperature).
- If you input your temperature into the kegg app, it will automatically display on the Cycle view.
- If you use Tempdrop, you can sync your Tempdrop data to the kegg app by navigating to your Profile then Apps & Services. Press Connect to sync and follow the prompts to sync your data.
