Getting Started

kegg records the changes and trends in vaginal environment and cervical fluids to determine the fertile window. Common electrolyte level trends occur throughout the fertility cycle. As egg follicles mature within a woman’s ovaries, the chemical composition of the cervical mucus changes. This is what kegg records. As estrogen increases the cervical mucus becomes more welcoming and nourishing to sperm, allowing sperm to survive on their journey to the egg.

kegg creates personalized fertility predictions based upon the user’s readings and past cycle data. With each completed cycle, kegg’s fertility predictions become more and more personalized.

Cleaning kegg
1. Before and after use, kegg should be gently cleaned by washing it with warm water. Note:  If you wish to use soap, please use neutral soap (i.e. something that you’d use on your face or sensitive skin).

2. Before storing, dry gently and thoroughly with a towel taking care not to scratch the surface of the metal electrodes. kegg is water-resistant, but avoid submerging your kegg in water.

Charging kegg
The kegg application will let you know when the kegg will need to be charged. If the kegg battery is too low to use kegg, it will flash yellow when you try to turn it on. To charge, simply plug the USB cord into the charging cradle, and plug the supplied charger block into the wall. place the kegg in its cradle, and let it charge for at least 4 hours. kegg will slowly flash yellow when charging and flash green when fully charged.

The kegg might need a gentle push downwards for it to start charging like so:

We know you are trusting us with an intimate part of your body and your safety is our top priority.

kegg is made from 100% medical-grade silicone and golden-plated stainless steel and is water-resistant. Additionally, kegg has undergone rigorous safety tests. This includes ISO biocompatibility testing which tests for: Cell Cytotoxicity, Vagina Irritation, Sensitization, and Acute systemic toxicity.

Yes, kegg is an FDA-registered Class I medical device.

At its widest point, kegg’s kegel ball is ~25.1mm in width. The body length is 50mm. If you stretch out the tail, which does not go inside your body, it is 110mm long. To put this into perspective, the kegg device is about the size of a bottle of nail polish.

kegg weights 29.35 grams (1.035 oz)

Two users cannot use kegg as each kegg device is registered uniquely to an account. Given the intimacy of a kegg device, we do not recommend sharing a kegg device or using a kegg that has been used by someone else.

kegg is an intuitive fertility tracker that measures changes in electrolyte levels of cervical mucus —the golden metric to pinpointing your fertile window within each menstrual cycle. By using advanced sensing technology known as impedance, kegg can detect your fertile window using your unique cycle data.

Following the daily reading, which takes around 2-3 minutes, kegg will send your kegg data to the cloud for analysis. In real-time, the device connects to a mobile app that displays your reading’s results, cyclical trends, and fertility predictions. With consistent, once a day use, you will gain deeper insight into your own unique fertility pattern.

You can also add prompted Kegel pelvic floor exercises to your daily routine with kegg. As a bonus, doing Kegels before taking a fertility reading can increase cervical mucus and circulation for easier data collection.

kegg is an FDA-Registered medical device.

*Please note that no at-home fertility device can confirm ovulation..

kegg has been tested and passes the IEC60601-1-2 Medical Device Safety standards. kegg is also an FCC registered device, conforming to FCC standards. During the reading, kegg uses extremely low level electrical pulses, which is less exposure than that which is used in a TENS unit, for example.

All Low Energy (BTLE) communication between kegg and the app on your device take place outside of the body. The app instructs the user to power on kegg and select between taking the reading or completing the guided kegel exercise routine followed by the kegg reading. Next, the kegg app instructs the user to insert kegg. This sets off a timer sequence and communications signals turn off during the reading. When the reading is complete, the kegg user feels 2 vibrations and the app will instruct the user  to remove kegg. At this point you remove kegg and hold it near your device when it will again use Low Energy communications to update your app with your data. So to summarize, no BTLE signals are sent while in the body. In addition, the signal is sent through the tail of kegg which is not inserted in the body.

The results we have seen with kegg have been astounding. Thousands of women have conceived with the help of kegg. These inspiring results gave us the confidence to offer a 12 month pregnancy guarantee.

The “12-month Pregnancy Guarantee” means that if you use kegg consistently for at least 1 year to optimally time your trying to conceive efforts and you do not conceive during that time, you can receive your money back.

Unfortunately, no device can guarantee pregnancy. However, we can ensure you that if you meet and follow the criteria outlined below and use kegg to time your trying to conceive efforts during your fertile valleys and do not conceive, you can use your full refund to help you on your trying to conceive journey by another means.

To be eligible to receive a full refund, the user must meet the kegg user criteriafollow the recommended use guidelines, and adhere to the 12 month Pregnancy Guarantee rules as outlined below.

kegg’s user criteria:
  • Are within reproductive age (if you continue to have periods and continue to ovulate you are considered of reproductive age)
  • Have been off hormonal birth control for at least 3 months and have had at least 2 menstrual cycles since discontinuing hormonal birth control.
  • Are at least 6 weeks postpartum and have had at least 2 menstrual cycles beyond 6 weeks postpartum.
  • Are not currently producing breast milk and have had at least 2 menstrual cycles since the full completion of milk production.
  • Have menstrual cycles (period bleeds)*
  • Are 21 years of age or greater.

*At kegg, many of our team members have PCOS and experience irregular cycles. By tracking their cycles with kegg and timing intercourse during the valleys, our team members with PCOS successfully conceived their babies. We firmly believe that women with irregular cycles and/or PCOS should qualify for our pregnancy guarantee. Of note, in order to gain valuable insights with kegg, the user must ovulate and have periods. If you identify that you are not cycling or ovulating, we recommend speaking with your medical provider. If cycle length averages are greater than 40 days, the user will not see a fertile window prediction.

Recommended use:
  • Take a reading with kegg once every day throughout the cycle (except during your period).
  • Use kegg within the same 2 hour timeframe each day for accurate results. If you miss your reading time frame it is advised to skip the reading for that day.
  • Take only one reading per day on nonbleeding days. Multiple readings in one day are not recommended as the results may not be accurate. kegg will only record the final reading of the day.
  • Do not use kegg within 8 hours after intercourse
  • Do not use kegg while using an intravaginal medication, supplements, or treatments.
  • Time your trying to conceive efforts during your fertile windows. The user should watch their readings to identify their fertile valleys, during which time they should aim to have sex or inseminate.

Is kegg for me?

kegg is intended for women who are 21 years or older, who ovulate regularly with cycle lengths between 21-40 days. kegg is not intended for use in women younger than 21 years of age.

kegg should not be used in the first 6 weeks postpartum. Please discuss with your doctor when it is safe to use kegg in the postpartum period. For women who are not breastfeeding, we recommend waiting until at least 2 cycles have been completed, (AFTER 6 weeks postpartum) before using kegg.

Fertility monitors are eligible for purchase or reimbursement through both FSA and HSA accounts. Please contact your account provider to verify kegg is covered by your individual plan.

kegg can help women with irregular cycles. Many women with irregular cycles turn to kegg after feeling frustrated with other tracking methods as they often miss the mark in identifying the fertile window. The daily readings with kegg reflect the real-time changes in fertility, allowing kegg users to be empowered to see when they are in a potential fertile window; the time of the cycle when intercourse or insemination can result in conception.

kegg detects the changes in the vaginal environment which shift in correlation to the hormonal changes of the cycle.  kegg places a fertile window prediction at the start of the cycle for average cycle lengths of 21-40 days. When cycles are highly irregular, the fertile window prediction may not be accurate. Users who do not have a prediction or have highly irregular cycles must rely on watching the trend of their readings to spot the fertile valley. A descent in the reading’s trendline indicates the user is likely entering a fertile valley and thus should consider timing their trying to conceive efforts. We have a dedicated support team at kegg who can help offer insights about your chart, should you have any questions along the way. We are so confident that kegg can help you, that we offer a 12-month pregnancy guarantee. If you do not conceive in 12 months of using kegg as directed, we will refund you in full. Visit the dedicated page on how women with Irregular cycles get pregnant with kegg here

Conventional cycle tracking methods such as calendar apps and LH testing come up short when it comes to irregular cycles, since the fertile window does not occur at precisely the same time each cycle. Menstruation typically occurs every 25 to 35 days. Over the course of a year, the length between your longest cycle and the shortest cycle can vary up to 9 days and still be considered within the normal range. For example, a woman can have one cycle that is 25 days long, followed by a cycle that is 33 days long.  With kegg, the user can be sure they will not miss any days of the fertile valley as the daily readings reflect the real-time changes even when fertile windows do not occur at the same time each cycle. While we often cannot control the multitude of factors that contribute to irregular cycles, such as stress, travel, or illness, you can be certain you will not miss your fertile valley when you use kegg.

There is a growing community of women with PCOS confidently tracking their fertility with kegg.

Each kegg reading reflects the cumulative electrolyte value in the cervical fluid. The electrolytes in the cervical fluid shift with the hormonal changes. The kegg readings tend to lower as the user enters the fertile window. This forms a potential “fertile valley” in readings. The lower readings are associated with a vaginal environment that is hospitable to sperm. In other words, readings that are low on the kegg chart suggest the user may be in the fertile window. Learn here how to read kegg charts.

In order to see a potential fertile window, the user must experience the hormonal changes that occur prior to ovulation. The increasing estrogen, for example, is associated with the descending kegg values and clues the kegg user into the opening of a potential fertile window.

While kegg predictions have not been clinically tested in women with PCOS, many women use kegg to track their cycles, monitor the trends of their cycles, identify their fertile windows, and ultimately feel in control of their fertility.

PCOS impacts women differently. While some women with PCOS ovulate fairly consistently and have regular periods, others may not ovulate without medical intervention, or they might ovulate inconsistently. For this reason, there is not one pattern of kegg trends consistent among all women with PCOS and these example PCOS charts demonstrate this.

kegg provides fertile window predictions for cycles 21-40 days in length. However, if a user’s cycles are highly irregular or if her cycles are longer than 40 days, she will watch her daily trendline data, and time sex on days with low readings.

In cycles where these hormonal changes do not take place and thus ovulation does not occur, Users will likely not see a definitive “fertile valley” in their kegg data. Alternatively, it is possible to record a fertile valley in kegg readings and for the body to experience these surging hormones but not successfully result in ovulation. While kegg cannot confirm ovulation, users with PCOS and/or irregular cycles, can optimally time their trying to conceive efforts with each potential fertile valley to ensure they are not missing out on a fertile day.

Since the electrolytes in the cervical fluid fluctuate according to the hormonal changes of the cycle, the kegg user can look for descending reading on their kegg chart to identify a potential fertile window. The kegg user can presume their fertile window is ending when they see a rise in kegg data, as the rise in progesterone results in a change in the electrolytes of the cervical fluid. As noted above though, kegg alone cannot confirm ovulation has occurred.

Given that PCOS presents differently among women, we have observed many different chart characteristics among kegg users with PCOS.

Some women with PCOS have observed what appears to be multiple fertile valleys in their kegg data. In this example the user purposefully timed her trying to conceive efforts during the dips or valleys assuming these valleys could be attempts at ovulation. A few days after her first valley and rise she found her trend line dropping again and decided to have sex on those days too just in case her first valley wasn’t successful in achieving ovulation. This was followed by an 11-day luteal phase.  Her typical luteal phase is 11-12 days.  If the first valley had been successful, her period would have come much sooner near cycle day 29, therefore this confirms the first attempt at ovulation was not successful.

PCOS 2a: Unreliable LH results

A classic feature of PCOS is multiple or sustained LH surges. This user noted in her chart when she had an LH surge. Note the two “dips” or valleys and the two positive LH test results, on CD 16-17 and CD 31.

PCOS 2b: sustained LH surge

Another common occurrence for women with PCOS is many days in a row with positive LH results. Without serum hormone testing and ultrasounds throughout the cycle, we cannot confirm when or even IF ovulation took place. In the chart below, you will notice this user had several days of a positive LH result. Her kegg results helped guide her, as she noted her readings continuing to descend, followed by a rise. She then had a typical 12-day luteal phase.

PCOS 4: flat trend line

A final pattern we have seen in some users with PCOS is very low and flat kegg data. Some users that have experienced “flat” kegg reading will have some very flat cycles and other cycles with more typical patterns. This cycle was likely anovulatory. But we have also seen cycles with flat data with confirmed ovulation and successful conception.

We have heard from happy mamas with PCOS who were able to successfully conceive using kegg.

PCOS mama

This mama with PCOS conceived during her first kegg cycle. She shared “I am 34 with PCOS and I was using kegg to conceive my second child naturally. My first child was conceived after 3 years of trying, on our second try with fertility medication and I was hoping to avoid that this time. I know our main issue was timing and with OPKs I would get false positives so I searched for a different way and I came across kegg. I often had a hard time reading my own cervical mucus so I thought this would be great. I ordered it shortly before I found out that I did not get pregnant on our first cycle trying. I started using it on my second cycle. After going into a descent around cycle day 14, I did a Proov PDG test 7 days later to confirm and I did not ovulate yet. I kept doing my daily readings until I went into another descent around cycle day 25. My basal body temperature, my opk tests and my kegg readings all lined up and pointed to ovulation happening. A week later, I took a Proov test and confirmed, finally, I ovulated! With the help of kegg I was able to determine even on my first cycle when I was my fertile window. Without kegg, it would have basically been a shot in the dark. I would have never known I ovulated so late. Shortly after we tried that cycle, I had a doctor’s appointment where they told me I would most likely need the help of a Reproductive Endocrinologist to conceive again. However, to my utter shock, I took a test a few days later and I was pregnant! I truly feel like kegg is a wonderful device and without it, maybe I would’ve needed a Reproductive Endocrinologist but we did use it and we conceived naturally and I am so over the moon and so grateful for this product! I just had my 7-week sonogram and saw the heartbeat. Thank you kegg, I can’t thank you enough! We are so overjoyed.”

Trying to conceive with PCOS can be a challenging journey. With the added insights of kegg*, many women with PCOS have been successful.

*Please note: while many women with PCOS choose to use kegg, kegg has not been clinically tested in women with PCOS. kegg cannot be used to diagnose or treat any medical condition.

Hormonal birth control such as the pill and IUD suppress ovulation. No ovulation means there’s no egg released for sperm to fertilize, so pregnancy can’t occur.   Without ovulation — the main event in a menstrual cycle – there will not be tre fertility data for kegg to record.

kegg was not designed for women who use an IUD including the copper IUD. The Copper IUDs can alter cervical mucus, because of this, kegg may not give you meaningful fertility data.

We recommend users wait to begin tracking their fertility with kegg after completing at least two cycles after they discontinue their chosen method of hormonal birth control and are ready to conceive.

kegg should not be used during menstruation.  Note you bleeding within the mobile app and resume your daily kegg readings once your period ends.

Please note that if your attempt to conceive becomes successful and a fertilized egg attaches to the interior lining of the uterus, something is known as implantation bleeding/spotting may occur around the time of your missed period. This attachment of the fertilized egg can result in light bleeding or spotting, which is completely normal.

If you test positive for pregnancy, congratulations! Please record your positive pregnancy in the app and discontinue kegg use for the remainder of your pregnancy.

If you have a vaginal infection or irritation, please do not use your kegg as the infection may affect the test results.

The most common symptoms for a vaginal infection are:

  • vaginal itching
  • a change in the amount of discharge from your vagina
  • a change in the color of your vaginal discharge to yellow, green, or grey
  • pain or burning during urination
  • pain during intercourse
  • vaginal bleeding or spotting

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please speak to a doctor to ensure you get the right treatment.

kegg is not recommended as a contraceptive device. Kegg can be used as a complementary tool to your preferred fertility awareness-based method (FABM).

Want to hear from others? We have a Facebook group specifically for women interested in incorporating kegg into their FABM! We invite you to join the conversation here.

If you are diagnosed with endometriosis, we recommend consulting with a health professional to determine if kegg is right for you.

If you have a pelvic health condition such as prolapse or pelvic pain, we recommend consulting with a health professional to determine if kegg is right for you.

If you experience pain when inserting tampons, menstrual cups, any other item, or during intercourse, using kegg is not advised.  We recommend consulting with a health professional to determine if kegg is right for you.

First, of all, we are sorry for your loss. If you ever want to connect with other users whom many have suffered a miscarriage before, please join our conversation on the private Facebook group.

There isn’t a hard rule as to when you will ovulate after having a miscarriage. It could take up to six weeks or you may not ovulate at all in your first post-miscarriage cycle.  As your body is healing and recalibrating, good nutrition and rest can help.

Often, the first cycle can be longer than your average—because it takes longer to ovulate— but you may also have a shorter luteal phase (i.etime after ovulation and the next period starts).

Once your doctor gives the approval and you feel ready to start trying again, then you can re-introduce kegg back into your routine.

kegg identifies a user’s fertile window by sensing changes in electrolyte levels of vaginal fluids that correspond to hormonal levels. While breastfeeding, hormone levels may fluctuate or be suppressed resulting in an irregular or absent menstrual cycle. Moreover, the hormone prolactin is elevated in women producing breast milk. Prolactin directly affects fluid and electrolyte production in the human body which could impact kegg results.  Therefore, we recommend waiting until after two consecutive periods following completion of breastfeeding to begin fertility monitoring with kegg, as results will be most accurate in regular, non-breastfeeding cycles.

Are you tired of guessing when your fertile window falls? Are you relying on LH strips only to miss the most valuable days of your fertile window? If you are looking for a fertility tracker that will allow you to see your full fertile window so you can be confident you are appropriately timing your efforts, kegg may be just what you need. kegg is a fertility tracker that helps women track their fertile window, allowing them to optimally time intercourse and be empowered by knowing what is happening throughout their cycle. The free accompanying kegg app predicts the fertile window in advance while the daily readings show the user the changes in fertility in real-time. kegg detects the changes in the cervical fluid which shift with the hormonal changes of the cycle. kegg is used for 2-minutes a day within the same 2-hour window. kegg is recommended for women who :

  • Are within reproductive age and have cycles
  • Are not on hormonal birth control nor IUD of any kind
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are not in menopause
  • Are trying to conceive or wish to track their fertility Note: kegg is not recommended to be used as a contraceptive device. See below how women use kegg with their preferred fertility awareness method.

Do you have irregular cycles or PCOS?
If you have irregular cycles and/or PCOS, kegg may help you.  There is a growing community of women with PCOS and irregular cycles who have been successful with kegg. Conventional fertility tracking methods can be especially frustrating because the fertile window does not fall consistently at the same time. kegg allows you to see a potential fertile valley open as your kegg readings move downwards, allowing you to make actionable decisions.  Most women with irregular cycles and/or PCOS** rely on watching their kegg data to identify when they are entering the fertile valley, as the prediction may not be accurate for highly variable cycles. However,  the daily readings reflect the real-time changes in the cycle which is why women can learn how to identify their fertile window.

We are here to help you understand your kegg data, should you have any questions. You can also learn more about kegg users with PCOS here and kegg users with irregular cycles here.

The kegg user sees the fertile window prediction placed on the cycle chart and calendar at the start of the cycle. In addition, the user watches the daily readings which are reflective of the real-time changes in the cervical fluid, to watch the fertile valley happening.

The fertile window prediction which is placed at the start of the cycle is best suited for women that:

  • Have been off hormonal birth control or IUD  and their ovulatory cycles have returned
  • Are past 6 weeks of giving birth and have had at least 2 menstrual cycles beyond 6 weeks postpartum.
  • Have most cycles ranging from 21-40 days in length, or are interested in watching your kegg trends to spot your fertile valley without the prediction

The daily readings can be influenced by certain factors. Daily kegg readings are most reliable if the user does not use or experience the following:

  • Daily vaginal douches, creams, or ointments
  • Active sexually transmitted diseases
  • Been diagnosed with any pelvic floor disorder
  • Currently breastfeeding or have not had at least 2 menstrual cycles since the full completion of milk production
  • Supplements or medications that induce ovulation, or could impact the body’s electrolyte levels.*

The kegg algorithm has not been designed nor tested for pregnancy prevention. However, you can use kegg data and trends to complement your own primary choice of fertility awareness method.  Here are real examples of kegg users who use kegg to complement their tracking with:

*Some medications and supplements could impact kegg’s ability to make predictions for some users.
** kegg has not been clinically testing in women with PCOS.

Yes! Kegel exercise can help with tracking. Kegels can help improve blood circulation to the pelvic floor and vagina, and this may be helpful for arousal and lubrication. When you perform Kegels right before the reading, the pelvic floor exercise may help to move the fluids downwards and improve the sensing of the fluids.

kegg is the only intuitive fertility tracker on the market that measures electrolytes of vaginal fluid to predict a woman’s fertile window. Cervical mucus monitoring gives women the best likelihood of natural conception.

kegg’s advanced sensing technology more accurately and precisely identifies the fertile window in comparison to probability-based solutions.

To date, women have been using two main methods of fertility tracking: basal body temperature (BBT) and Ovulation Predictor Kits (OPKs).

kegg vs. Basal Body Temperature:

Most other fertility trackers measure Basal Body Temperature (BBT), which is the lowest body temperature attained during rest. Measuring BBT to predict the fertile window is a probability-based solution, whereas kegg provides a more direct and earlier prediction of your fertile window by measuring vaginal fluids. While BBT tracking can help to confirm ovulation after the fact, the data can easily be skewed by irregular sleep patterns, sickness, or other physiological things that can happen daily.

For regular temperature thermometers, the BBT shift comes too late after ovulation has occurred, so the user may miss her peak fertile days if she only tracks her fertility with BBT.

kegg vs. Ovulation Predictor Kits (OPKs or LH tests):

Most OPKs that detect the presence and concentration of the luteinizing hormone in urine only offer a short time from the start of the LH surge to ovulation, roughly 12 to 36 hours.  They neither detect nor confirm ovulation. You can get a positive OPK without ever ovulating or you can ovulate without recording a positive OPK test.

According to studies, women typically have the most fertile cervical mucus 2-3 days before ovulation, which is typically a woman’s best chance for conception. This is why kegg primarily senses the changes in the electrolyte levels of cervical mucus and can give real-time information to users.

The way women perceive and chart cervical mucus according to the fertility awareness-based methods (e.g. sticky, creamy, egg-white, etc.) is not how kegg displays the fertility results. Instead, kegg measures electrolyte levels in the cervical mucus.

kegg senses electrolyte levels of the vaginal environment and displays the daily readings over the course of the cycle. kegg’s mobile app displays user data on a cycle graph, along with a daily fertility status of “low”, “possible”, or “likely”

Using kegg

Temperatures displayed in gray are pulled from tempdrop’s database.  Temperatures displayed in tan, have been added by the user in the optional notes section.

Initial tempdrop integration pulls the previous 6 months worth of data. Temperatures from longer ago can be manually added.

To turn on Tempdrop integration in the kegg app, download the latest kegg app update

  1. In the kegg app, go to “PROFILE”
  2. Select “Apps & Services”
  3. Choose “Tempdrop LTD.”
  4. Select “Connect”
  5. You will be taken to Tempdrop’s login page and asked to approve the integration

The kegg app will automatically pull up to 6 months of past temperatures from your tempdrop account.

Your tempdrop temperatures will display in the cycleview of the kegg app.  Tap the upper left thermometer icon to turn on and off the temperature display.

Tempdrop temperatures will display in light gray.  Temperatures added by the user in the optional notes section will display in light tan.

Tempdrop temperatures will auto fill in all dates with tempdrop data. Dates without tempdrop data will be blank. Dates with temperatures added by the user will remain if no tempdrop data is available for that date.

No, kegg does not transmit signals during the reading.

kegg connects with the user’s phone’s low energy wireless connection. When prompted to start a reading, kegg is recognized by the app. The user selects in the app that they are ready to insert their kegg. At this time, the signal is turned off. When the reading is complete, the user is prompted to remove their kegg and the reading’s data is sent through the antenna in kegg’s tail to the app via the phone’s wireless connection.

In the first 2-3 cycles kegg is learning your unique cycle trends. kegg relies on the user providing consistent data, which is taking readings throughout the cycle at a consistent time of day. In the first cycle, kegg will place a best-guess prediction based on the information provided by the user during their account setup. If the length of your cycle varies significantly,*  it may take more time for kegg to learn your cycle trends. While kegg is learning, or if you are having an irregular cycle due to stress, travel, or illness, you can watch for downward trends and have sex on days with descending readings to maximize your chance of conception.

*kegg is best suited for users with regular cycles that are more than 21 days long and do not exceed 40 days. If you have cycles shorter than 21 days or longer than 40 days, a fertile window prediction will not be displayed.

kegg’s trend line will assess an average between the previous and current day’s reading. Kegg needs a few readings before it will begin to display this information. After the 3rd reading kegg will begin displaying your trend line.

For both the trend line and daily readings, users will most often see a fertile valley in or near their predicted fertile window.  Some cycles can have a single-day drop or very subtle shifts through the cycle.  For these cycles, the trend line may stay relatively flat.

Taking your daily readings within the same 2 hour time frame each day is key to getting the most out of your kegg data. If a reading is taken more than 90 mins from your selected reading time it will be highlighted in red on your chart. This is simply a visual note that this reading may be inaccurate especially if it does not flow well with its neighboring readings. These readings are not discarded from the algorithm. The different color helps you and user support to make note of any readings that might not be accurate.

Occasional jumps and drops are within normal.  If you find the majority of your readings fluctuate significantly consider any of the following factors that can contribute to erratic readings:

  • Taking readings outside of a consistent 2 hour time frame.
  • Using different positions for readings (some standing, some laying down)
  • The moment during the reading.
  • Not inserting kegg fully
  • Taking readings too soon after sex
  • Significant stress, change in daily routine or travel
  • Inconsistent hydration
  • Illness or infection
  • Presence of foreign substances like vaginal medication, ointment, or lube.

The trendline and daily readings line can be thought of as partners to help you see your overall trend in readings. Users will sometimes put too much focus on day-to-day fluctuations but kegg’s intelligent algorithm does the work for you by assessing your readings and cycle trends to determine the best fertile window predictions. The trend line will help to better see the overall trends of the fluctuating day-to-day readings.

In this example, we see there is a one-day rise in the middle of this user’s fertile window. The trendline helps to see that the trend of readings is still lower than the readings before and after the fertile window.

kegg’s new trendline is a visual aid for users to discern the overall pattern of their readings rather than focusing on the day-to-day fluctuations.  For some charts, the trend line will generally follow the same pattern as the daily readings.  For other charts with significant ups and downs. The trend line will help to define whether a group of readings are descending, ascending or steady.

kegg’s algorithm needs consistent readings throughout the cycle to place the fertile window confirmation in completed cycles.  If there are not enough readings in a cycle, kegg will approximate the fertile window placement.

In the example shown, the user has missed readings throughout the cycle and has missed readings during her fertile window prediction.  kegg does not have enough information and is placing it’s best approximation based on the user’s cycle history.”

When traveling to a different time zone, simply stick to your usual routine and take your kegg readings according to the new time zone.  This means if your selected measurement time is 10 pm at home then continue to use 10 pm in the new time zone while traveling.  The kegg app will record and keep the time of your location for each day’s reading.

Depending on the disruption of routine, you may see an atypical pattern in your kegg readings for cycles with significant travel.  It is not uncommon to have some cycle disruptions or delays due to travel.

Within optional notes, be sure to add in your journal which days you are in a different time zone.

Mid-cycle:
At the beginning of a cycle, kegg places a fertile window prediction based on your personal cycle data.  Occasionally users might see their fertile window move mid-cycle. When this happens kegg is analyzing the most recent readings and recognizing a potentially later fertile window.

At the completion of the cycle:
At the completion of the cycle, kegg will assess the full set of readings and place a fertile window confirmation. Well-timed and consistent daily kegg readings will help to provide the most accurate fertile window placement both during and after the cycle is completed.

kegg is small and smooth, and can easily fit in  the palm of your hand. kegg is designed with your comfort in mind, to comfortably slide into the vagina. The tail portion of kegg remains outside of the vagina and allows for easy removal.

If you experience pain when inserting tampons, menstrual cups, any other item intended for vaginal insertion, or during intercourse, using kegg is not advised.  We recommend consulting with a health professional to determine if kegg is right for you.

kegg detects the unique electrolyte levels in the vaginal fluid. Vaginal douches, vaginal medications, creams, lubricants, and ointments may alter the electrolyte composition of the vaginal fluids, thus impacting kegg results. Therefore it is not recommended to use kegg while using any of these items.

Yes, our accompanying mobile app will allow you to manually log your BBT data to two decimal points. On the cycle graph view.  Users are able to turn on and off the temperature display by tapping the temperature icon in the top left of the cycle view.

The app starts making predictions based on the data you provide right away. As time goes on and as more data is collected those predictions automatically change. As users track their second and third cycle, the predictions become more personalized to the user. It is important to note that consistency is key with kegg. Daily readings help kegg learn your body to provide the best information for you.

The two functions are inseparable. Doing Kegels before taking a fertility reading can increase lubrication and circulation for easier data collectiaon.

Yes! kegg is very simple to use and takes only 2 minutes per day. Many women use kegg during their evening routine like while they are brushing their teeth or in the morning while checking the news or having coffee.

Just as you are learning to use kegg, kegg is also learning the uniqueness of your body. We recommend using kegg for at least 1-2 complete cycles for kegg to learn your trends. For your very first cycle, kegg will predict your fertile window based on your cycle length average. After the first cycle, kegg will then use the ‘kegg method’ to predict your fertile window, as long as it has been able to detect a trend in the first cycle. In anovulatory cycles, for example, this will not occur.

Please note: if your cycle length varies greatly, it may take your kegg a bit more time to get to know you and your unique trends.

  • Begin using kegg at any time during the cycle except on the days of your period.
  • Take your reading every day at the same time, within a two-hour timeframe.
  • External vaginal fluids of any sort (semen, douche, suppositories, etc.) will impact your reading.
  • Please allow at least 8 hours after unprotected sex to take your kegg reading.
  • Check out the user manual in your kegg box or visit kegg.tech/guide for ‘How to use kegg’, optional kegel exercises, and cleaning your kegg.

kegg is designed to be used on your own time when it’s most convenient for you. Simply take a reading each day within the same 2 hour time frame that fits your schedule.

We recommend choosing a time corresponding with a regular routine to ensure consistency (ex. either in the morning or in the evening).

For the most consistent results, we recommend using kegg prior to sex or taking the reading at least 8 hours after sex.

We know that each day is different and busy for our users. We want kegg to be as easy as possible, so we have added a function to set a daily reminder to take a reading on our app.

If you wish to change the cycle length you entered at startup, you can do so by inputting your past period into the calendar tab. Select Calendar, then Edit Period. Select the first day of your last period in the calendar.  This will automatically update the cycle length you entered at startup, and as a result, you may see your fertile window prediction move based on this new information.  You can enter up to 90 days of past period information which will be factored into the fertile window prediction for your first cycle. Alternatively, if you selected that you were not sure what your cycle length was during the account creation process but want to go back and add previous period data, this will also override the “not sure” selection and update your period lengths according to the information you enter in the calendar.  The kegg app will learn your estimated cycle length over time and adjust as needed.

The kegg app will let you know when the kegg will need to be charged. If the kegg battery is too low to use kegg, it will flash yellow when you try to turn it on.

  1. Insert the cable into the charging block
  2. Insert the other end of the cable into the cradle. Note: be sure to push the cable fully into the cradle as shown in the image.
3. Plug the charging block into the outlet

4. Push kegg firmly into the cradle. The metal tips of the kegg need to make contact with the connection point deep in the cradle.  Be sure to press your kegg all the way down into the cradle.

5. When charging you will see a gentle yellow pulse – if you are in a bright room, cup your hands around the cradle to check for the charging light.

6. Your kegg will glow green when fully charged

kegg has a powerful battery and should not be charged daily. When the app indicates it is time to charge, pop your fully dry kegg into the cradle to charge.

Take a reading with kegg once every day (except when on your period). The reading only takes a couple of minutes. You can use kegg any time of day – whenever fits best within your daily routine. It is important to be consistent with the time of day that you use kegg – within a 2 hour period for the most accurate results. Using kegg multiple times per day is not recommended and the results will not be accurate. kegg will only record the most final reading of the day.

Recommended use:

  • Use kegg once every day throughout the cycle (except during your period).
  • Take your reading within the same 2 hour period each day for accurate results.  If you miss your reading time frame it is advised to skip the reading for that day.
  • Taking multiple readings per day or back-to-back is not recommended as the results may not be accurate. kegg will only record the final reading of the day.
  • Do not use kegg within 8 hours after intercourse
  • Do not use kegg while also using an intravaginal medication, supplements, or treatments.

Always consult a physician before using kegg or if you have any concerns regarding the use of this product.

  • If you are using kegg with Kegel exercises: The battery will last more than 2 days.
  • If you are using kegg without Kegel exercises: The battery should last you more than 5 days.
